Exercise 2: Introduction Post
Introduction
I moved to Leicester in June 2017. It was pure coincidence that I ended up here. The story of it is long and sad so I will skip straight to the main aim of this post. Why DMU?
I was always impressed by campus every time I was passing it on my way to canals. I still remember when art building was still in construction – DMU was not as tempting at the time.
As I mention in my Personal Statement university was in the back of my head for the past 8 years. I knew with my mathematical mind and logical thinking I must choose something in engineering or computing field – I simply do not believe in practicality of art or business degrees in contrast to science or computing one.
I choose Software Engineering at first as it a mix of programming, people, and creative skills. All (3) of my friends are working in that industry, so it was obvious direction for me to choose from.
Then DMUIC happened. I was more excited about my math classes than computing. Not because of tutor or curriculum per se but the subject itself. Since I remember every science teacher was telling us that Mathematic is the Queen of science. I know it might seem insane, but I can hear it calling me. I feel excitement when I think how complex and yet simple mathematics are and how they are affecting every aspect of modern world.
In future post I will explain more the correlation between Mathematics and Computer Science.
